The Philadelphia Lawyer

The storied tradition of "The Philadelphia Lawyer" is well known to many lawyers. It has become a Dictionary term for an attorney who is clever, crafty, and familiar with the finest details of the law.

"Philadelphia Lawyer" is a term to describe a lawyer who knows the most detailed and minute points of law or is an exceptionally competent lawyer. Its first usage dates back to 1788.  It is derived from Philadelphia-based Colonial American lawyer Andrew Hamilton, a lawyer best known for his legal victory on behalf of printer and newspaper publisher John Peter Zenger (against the King of England and a stakced jury, no less), and is believed to have inspired the "Philadelphia lawyer" term.

We like to think we honor this tradition for all whom we represent.  No only was attorney David Harris born and raised in Philadelphia, and trained there as a novice lawyer in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases, but he has taken that knowledge, that tradition, that skill level, and brought it with him here to his home in Southwest Florida.
