Acetaminophen, found in fever-reducing and
pain-relieving over the counter (OTC) drugs, including Tylenol®, is known to be toxic to the
liver. What has not been previously disclosed by drug manufacturers, however, is that the
amount of Acetaminophen it takes to cause liver damage and stomach bleeding is much lower than
dosage amounts listed on OTC products. See the recent news, US News: Health: FDA Urges Tougher
Warnings on Acetaminophen.
The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is
urging tougher, more accurate, warnings and guidelines on the use of acetaminophen products.
Included among the risks are liver damage, liver toxicity, and stomach
bleeding.
The FDA report concludes the consumers are
unaware of the dangers of acetaminophen, often because consumers are not aware that many of the
cold, flu, and other pain relievers they take contain acetaminophen, as well as the fact the
consumers may take a combination of OTC drugs that contain acetaminophen. The results are
often catastrophic: liver failure, liver toxicity, liver damage, stomach
bleeding.
Inadvertent overdosing acetaminophen is the
number one cause of liver damage and failure tin the U.S. according to the
FDA.
Acetaminophen Injury

A drug injury can
have catastrophic consequences for the consumer. Proving a company's liability for injury,

regulations.
