Avandia (generic: Rosiglitazone) is a drug used to treat type II diabetes (Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM). It was intended to replace the recalled diabetes drug, Rezulin.

Manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, Avandia can have many side effects, from mild to potentially fatal. While Glaxo Smith Kline knew or should have known of these side effects, warnings about them were not promptly provided to consumers.

Even after being told to change the warnings by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Glaxo SmithKline continued to publicly deny the existence of these side effects.
