The CPSC agency has linked several injuries and is investigating others, related to the defective cribs and baby crib defects. Federal product safety officials announced one of the largest crib recalls in U.S. history, with retailers voluntarily pulling 320,000 defective cribs due to breaking slats or spindles that can cause child injury and child death. Broken slats or broken spindles can result in a child getting stuck in the gap between the mattress and frame. The broken slates or spindles themselves also pose the risk of causing puncture wounds.
